Trying to make something new with what I already had at home.
This dish was never really planned. I was standing in the kitchen, looking at a few leftover ingredients and asking myself what I actually wanted to cook. At first, the idea was simple – just some köttbullar with a creamy sauce and spaghetti. Nothing special, just an easy and familiar dinner. But then I noticed there was still bacon and a piece of parmesan in the fridge that really needed to be used.
So, instead of sticking to the original plan, I decided to experiment a little. I started frying the bacon, added onions, and slowly turned the simple cream sauce into something richer and more flavorful. The meatballs went in, the pasta followed, and finally the parmesan melted into the sauce. I honestly did not expect much – but the result surprised me. The combination of creamy sauce, bacon, meatballs and parmesan worked far better than I imagined. Sometimes the best dishes come from leftovers and a small moment of curiosity in the kitchen. 😊
📝 Ingredients
- 1 large red onion, finely chopped
- 2 packs of bacon, finely chopped
- Köttbullar (meatballs), as desired
- Tomato purée (tomato paste)
- Black pepper
- Pizza seasoning
- Garlic, grated
- About 5 dl (500 ml) vegetable or beef stock (1 stock cube)
- About 5 dl (500 ml) cooking cream
- One handful of spaghetti
- Water, if needed
- 1 small piece of butter
- 100g grated parmesan
👩🍳 Instructions
- Fry the chopped red onion and bacon in a large pan or pot.
- Add the meatballs and fry them lightly until browned.
- Add the tomato purée and fry it briefly together with the rest.
- Season with black pepper and pizza seasoning. Add the grated garlic and mix well.
- Pour in the stock (about 500 ml) and stir well.
- Add the cooking cream (about 500 ml) and mix well again.
- Add the spaghetti directly into the sauce.
- Add water if needed, in case the spaghetti needs more liquid.
- Let everything simmer until the spaghetti is cooked, stirring occasionally.
- Finally, stir in a piece of butter and grated parmesan.
